Classes

Explaining Dance Levels ABSOLUTE BEGINNER (Brand New Beginner) This class is for first time dancers. Starting from the very basic steps and adding something new each week. It is highly encouraged to attend each week so you don’t miss out. Absolute Beginner is run as a course, the first 6 weeks get the basics. Then after that we build on the basic to create a confident Beginner level dancer. (NEW Beginner Course Coming Soon!!) BEGINNER This class is for students that have completed the Absolute Beginner Course and wish to move up to Beginners/Improvers. This class is slower then an improver class and works on routines not as hard as improver but not as easy as Basic Beginners. It is the step between Absolute Beginner and Improver. IMPROVER Improver class is a class for students confident with the beginner dances. The routines taught in an improver class contain more step combinations and a few more turns then beginner routines. This level never “starts” again like Absolute Beginners, with a new dance taught most weeks; sometimes its an easy improver dance, sometimes a harder improver dance. INTERMEDIATE This is the next step above Improver level dances, these dances often have more turns, step combinations and tag's, restarts, bridges are common place. Some intermediate dances will be taught at the Improver Plus class to help dancers gain more experience. Tropical Boots currently does not have a dedicated 'Intermediate' class. ADVANCED *Tropical Boots does not offer Advanced classes at this time* Advance Line Dances will includes Phased, multi combination line dances and Catalan style dances. These dances are often used in competition style environments.

On the Floor / Dance Floor Etiquette: No Drinks/Food: Never carry drinks, glasses, or cans onto the dance floor; spills are dangerous. Walk Around: Walk around the edge of the floor, never through a moving line of dancers. Space: Fill in the gaps, move forward if someone leaves the floor. This creates space for others to join towards the back or sides. If crowded, take smaller steps. Crowded Floor: If you don't know the dance, dance on the edges to avoid blocking others. If there is no room please stand back and watch. Be Courteous: Apologize if you bump someone; replace knocked-over drinks. Joining The Dance Floor: If you wish to join the floor and a dance is in motion (or about to start) Join at the edge or rear of the floor. Politely ask others to move forward if they have space in front/beside them to allow you to join the floor. Leaving the Dance Floor: Should you be on the floor and wish to leave be mindful of the dancers around you. Find your fastest most direct path off the floor (Direct to the Side, Rear or Front). Pick your moment to leave the floor to avoid bumping into other.
